Family Support Program
This program is funded through the Ministry of Children & Families and provides services to families residing on the reserve and to Native families in the Delta area.
This service is available to all families and community members. The main focus is to assist families that may be experiencing difficulties in the home and with government agencies. Referrals for the Family Support Services come from the Ministry of Child & Families and occasionally through the schools in the Delta area.
This program is primarily focused on ensuring that all the needs of the Elders in the Tsawwassen Community are met.
The Elders’ Coordinator is responsible for scheduling, menu planning, and assisting the Elders with shopping, doctors appointments and outings.
The Elder’s Workers are responsible for visiting the Elders and ensuring their needs are being met, as well as light housekeeping duties, planning and cooking the lunches. Elders’ lunches are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at no cost to the Elders. Community and staff are invited to attend at a cost of $3.00 per person.
When there is no luncheon at the Hall, the lunches are packed and delivered to the Elder’s. Home visits are conducted on a regular basis, and light housekeeping duties such as laundry, dishes, dusting, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming are done. If you want more information, please do not hesitate to call Charlene or Adam.
The Elder’s Workers accompany the Elder’s on outings such as dinner, ceremonies, shopping etc.
An Elder’s centre is being planned to open where Elder’s can meet to play cards, watch movies, and socialize. Watch the community notices for more details as they develop.
